Mobile search chartiCrossing, digital marketing agency, have issued a new study suggesting that while only 30% of mobile subscribers access the web via their mobile phone, 75% of those who do so conduct searches. Mobile consumers expressed a clear preference for major search engine brands like Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and Yahoo over carriers’ search solutions. Next, most users (75%) said they are unwilling to browse past the second page of search results. In addition, 84% of mobile searchers said they expect dedicated mobile versions of the sites they visit.

According to the study, users are most likely to search for maps/directions, weather and local information on their mobile phones. (full release)
