Nokia N75 is out, finally

Leave it to Cingular to botch up a release like this. This device was supposed to come out back in the middle ages.
USA 3G is fun, but rumour has it that T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) will launch 3G in America with the European 2100 MHz band.
Now that would make my day!

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but the 3G that T-mobile US will launch is only half-2100. The upstream will be on 1700, with downstream on 2100, thus making it incompatible with any other 3G network in the world.
This means that any device that works on T-mobile’s 3G network in the US will have to be made specially for them. Which also means it’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever see an unbranded handset.
Olly and I pondered this here back in January: http://symbianguru.typepad.com/welcome/2007/01/us_3g_may_bring.html
Ricky is correct, however T-Mobile did mention a partnership with Nokia back in November as part of an agreement for 3G. I don’t remember where I saw the article, but at the very least, we should see something with Symbian s60 running on T-Mobile’s goofy 1700/2100 UMTS network eventually, if not unlocked handsets from Nokia directly.
This duel band is crazy. Can they just use 2100 first and 1700 as overflow? That would make more sense to me. But heck what do I know. And it would make my E61 that much better. I would totaly switch to T-Mobile from my unlimited old ATT plan if I could use the 2100 3G on my E61 and future phones.
