Nokia should sell directly to Americans, skip the operators

Why not at least try to do it? Engadget’s Brian White is the realist who thinks such a revolutionary concept would not work out.

Me however, I’m all for it.

    Isn’t that what they’re already doing with the flagship stores? And the experience centers? Granted, it’s a small effort, but it’s still something?

    It does seem that they are at least testing direct sales more systematically. Hope it is a success and helps drive higher end devices to the market, over time perhaps “educating” consumers that there is something better out there. :) However, the volumes will still go through the carriers and volumes are important too.
