MOTO RAZR 2 announced

By Dusan Belic on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 at 11:21 AM PST In Announcements, Devices, Linux, Motorola

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) has announced the true successor to the original RAZR line! Unlike the original device, RAZR 2 is NOT just about the fashion. The new device is 2mm thinner than its predecessor, with its body being made of tough materials like aluminum, chemically treated glass, and stainless steel.

The Motorola RAZR 2 has also received an upgrade in the technology department. Its main screen measures 2.2″ and displays a standard QVGA resolution. External screen is where the difference is clearly visible — it is a 2″ TFT screen, the largest for a clamshell device on the market.

It is still not known when will the new RAZR hit the markets. One thing is certain, it will be available globally and it will be shipping in several different versions, each tailored for a specific market. Motorola is preparing RAZR 2 versions for EDGE, HSDPA, and EV-DO networks. Also, some RAZRs will run Motorola’s new Java Linux UI.

The MOTO RAZR 2 will also sport an HTML browser, 2 MP camera, and an interesting feature called Crystal Talk that automatically adjusts the earpiece volume according to ambient noise levels. (via: MobileBurn)

I went to a bell store today and looked at the new Razr2! It was very nice and I was impressed with the new look. I read some reviews and they are saying that it is quite a step up from the original Razr. The price that I saw for it where I live is $450 Canadian currency. I will be purchasing it this week when it gets into stock at the Bell stores.
