Vodafone launches Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225, first ultra-low cost handsets

Vodafone unveiled its first ultra-low cost consumer handsets, the Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225. The new devices are branded with Vodafone logo and are manufactured by the Chinese ZTE Corporation.
The idea behind this Vodafone’s move is to “mobilize people” in developing countries where the cost of purchasing a mobile handset can be one of the key barriers to accessing mobile services. You shouldn’t expect much of the features here — only the basic phone functionality, competitively priced. According to Vodafone, new phones will retail at around $25-$45 depending on the specific model and the local market conditions. Vodafone Egypt, Vodafone Romania and Vodacom (South Africa) will be the first countries to launch the Vodafone 125 and 225 handsets in the next few weeks.

I got one, it’s pretty good, polyphonic sounds, color display and that’s about it ow and yeah tetris and push box in the game section. Generaly not the gadgets but it’s design it’s what atracts me a lot it’s …. special you got to hold one to know what im talking about.

i really dont understand y dont u put a vibrater in the phone, ie woul be helpful when we are busy ..

Addition of vibrater wuld be more helpful for the usage of mobiel in meetings or when ever sound is prohibited.

i got d vodafone 225 last week.the phone is pretty flashy in appearance. but the exclusion of vibrater shows the foolishness of zte nd vodafone as a fone is almost handicapped without a vibrating alert.
after all, how do u expect ny1 to get to know abt incoming calls nd msgs in silent mode!!!! 
even low cost cant be an issue b’coz still cheaper handsets of reliance have a vibrator in them.
that was utterly idiotic i must say!!
1 more thing…how to download(if it is possible) polytunes in the vodafone 225????

Vodaphone 125. How do you lock and unlock your keypad? Please its not in user manual.

You can set the keypad to auto lock in the phone settings menu I think. Unlock by pressing # and * keys.
I would like to know how to manually lock the keypad…
I really like the fact that I can set up a list of numbers that may be dialled from the phone. Added my wife’s and my number as well as the voicemail number and then gave the phone to my 8-year old.

OK - I discovered how to manually lock the keypad.
Exactly the same way you lock the keypad: press # and then *
You will see the little lock icon displayed en the keypad will be locked.
To unlock press hte same key combination: # followed by *
I love this littel phone, but agree that silent mode without vibration is pretty useless unless you have the phone right in fornt of you when someone calls. Suppose that would have lifted the manufacturing costs and this is not intended as a business phone.

Hello, hello! I got a Vodafone 225 two days ago and…I love it! It doesn’t have any fancy functions nor characteristics (like hi-res video camera or mp3 player ability) but I’m not looking for those things on a mobile phone. I am more interested in how’s the signal while driving through the country or how long can the battery keep the phone alive. The signal is excellent! I live in Romania…I work at the National Institute for Nuclear Physics where we have thick concrete walls, but the signal never drops under 4 lines. That’s better than my older phone (a Nokia 3310) on which the signal would of droped to zero in some parts of the room. On the road the signal never droped bellow 3 lines (I travelled from Mangalia to Bucharest). The battery is quite good. Overall, this is the phone I’ve been waiting for. It has the simplicity of a Nokia 3310 but in a modern and actually “cool” look. Oh, and the color display is excellent. Good one, Vodafone!

huawei phones cost much cheaper than v125…but it has features like voice recorder, 600 phonebook storage, 200 inbox message storage, polyphonic RTs, calendar upto 2099, scheduler, 5 alarms with snooze, large and pleasing display and the minimum requirement of a mobile…”the vibration alert” which is foolishly omitted by vodafone ppl…

i purchased vodafone 125 on 23.5.2008. inicially it was good but now the switches are not working properly, the shopkeeper refused to help me, he says here there is no service center and it cant be repaired, The solution is just throw it off…. i am lost. can somebody help me.
