WidSets reaches 1 million users

WidSetsIf you’re have widgets running on your mobile phone, you’re likely using WidSets – Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s Java-based widget service. Today they’ve announced that WidSets has reached 1 million registered users worldwide, making it the single most used mobile widget platform on the market.

Commenting on the announcement, Ulla Särkikangas, Director of Consumer Internet Services at Nokia Emerging Business Unit said: “Having 1 million registered users in the mobile space is almost unheard of and WidSets has clearly set the benchmark for tools and distribution channels designed for content and media owners.”

As a reminder, WidSets work on ALL Java-enabled mobile devices — not just Nokia phones, and at the moment there are more than 1500 widgets available for download.

  1. Widgets are a good concept. We have launched a similar product a while ago (http://www.myiota.co.uk) which brings internet browsing on the phone inline with SMS, and the application provides an access to a network of services which can be SMS or gprs. Although, we concentrate on Text Only, the appeal and the consumer uptake is very impressive.
