RIM to introduce WiFi enabled BlackBerry this year

I can’t believe that we had to wait for so long to see this happening. The business-oriented device like any BlackBerry (except maybe Pearl) should come with support for WiFi connectivity. Now we have, sort of, confirmed that Research In Motion is working to add the WiFi radio to its handset(s).
According to RIM’s co-CEO, Jim Balsillie, they are working on such device and they will be releasing it “in the back half of this year.” On the backend, BlackBerry Enterprise Server will treat WiFi access points as additional cellular networks, and will automatically encrypt all voice and data transmissions, presuming the airlink is insecure.
Related to the subject, apparently T-Mobile will be among the first carrier to offer the WiFi enabled Curve. (via: Gizmodo)
