With the health related issues getting more and more space in the mainstream media, it doesn’t surprises that someone decided to make a health conscious phone concept. This trendy handset is designed by Kristina Lee, and enables users to track their health through nutrition and fitness/wellness. But the point is not in a single device — more users with similar goals network together to motivate, and hold the others accountable for their workouts. Furthermore, this device is equipped with eNose technology to “smell” and recognize what you eat… (via: gizmodo)

The market for mobile phone accessories is booming. According to ABI Research, it will generate over $32 billion in revenues this year, $4 billion more than what is expected from the smartphone market. Around 77% of these revenues will come from the sales of “after-market” mobile phone accessories and the remaining from “in-box” accessories shipments. Furthermore, ABI Research expects this market to grow steadily and generate over $80 billion in revenues in 2012.
Handset vendors now recognize that to increase sales of their high-end mobile phones, they need to provide accessories that allow users to fully enjoy and benefit from the features provided in those handsets. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is addressing the handset accessory market with a distinctive approach of “Mobile Enhancement” products while Motorola (NYSE: MOT) is placing special emphasis on the growing “Personalization” and “Self-Expression” trends.

Let’s get right to it. If you are at all interested in getting your service contract termination WITHOUT that damned ETF (Early Termination Fee), make sure your follow these instructions – you only have until June 1! (Keep in mind that they will do everything to convince you to stay with T-mobile (NYSE: DT) and/or that you have no other option than to cancel your contract with a penalty – hold your ground!)
T-mobile is planning on increasing SMS text messaging rates as of June 1 of 2007. This is usually sufficient grounds to cancel your service contract without an ETF, but this time it’s a little different – T-mobile is increasing the per-message SMS rates while decreasing the MMS rates. Still, T-mobile Terms of Service (TOS) clearly outlines your right to cancel your contract – it’s all about how you approach it.
This T3 video confirms the 1GB internal memory rumour. I’ve never been this excited over a mobile phone before. I always wanted a 8800, but hated the poor screen resolution. I came incredibly close to purchasing a 6300 with its magnificent QVGA display, but when the 8600 images leaked I immediately fell in love.
This device has yet to be announced by Nokia (NYSE: NOK), what is the hold up?
Korea’s government laboratory, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, has developed what they call a Single-carrier Modulation Photo Detector (SMPD) chip that can work in extremely low-light conditions. The new technology basically obsoletes the need for flash photography, especially on mobile phones. The new chip can collect enough picture data from 1 lux (1 candle’s worth of light) environments to take a decent photograph or video clip – resulting from 2,000 times greater sensitivity to light! The Korean laboratory spent 11 billion won ($10.5 million USD) in research and development costs, but expects to recoup that cost to the tune of about 2 trillion won ($2.2 billion USD) every year.
It’s about time. We’re tired of lackluster performance from our camera phones!
The sweet pair of Ultra Edition phones from Samsung, the A717 and A727, are, sadly, still not released. But, AT&T (NYSE: T)’s posting of the user’s guides for the A717 3G phone gives us hope that at least one of the Ultra Edition phones from Samsung will be upon us soon. BGR found the user’s guide for the Samsung A717, which reveals that the phone will top out its 3G offering with UMTS and not HSDPA. On the up-side, the A717 will feature the now ubiquitous AT&T Music and Cellular Video, along with AT&T Video Share! Look for the A717 to drop sometime soon on AT&T!
