Orange discontinues the SPV brand… NOT!

OrangeIn a strange move, Orange decided to discontinue its SPV brand in favor of HTC. In that sense, HTC’s latest handset will be available to Orange’s customers as HTC Touch — not as the SPV phone. While it makes sense for HTC, I don’t see how it fits with Orange’s branding. Maybe they are having problems with customers looking for HTC Vox, not SPV E650? Or the HTC realized how big of a company it has become and is now able to negotiate better terms with the carriers? Who knows — whatever the case is, I like the idea for one thing — it’s quite annoying trying to figure out which HTC device is branded as XDA, MDA or VDA… (via: the:unwired)

UPDATE: Orange will CONTINUE its SPV brand of Signature Series devices. HTC Touch will be sold as HTC Touch, but will still have the Orange logo.
