HTC Touch to make Asian debut in Taiwan - Apple iPhone killer rolling out globallyHTC’s answer to the venerable Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone will make its Asian debut in Taiwan. The Taiwanese launch of the HTC Touch comes weeks before the Apple iPhone launch and signals the first salvo by mainstream manufacturers against Apple’s new handset. The Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional smartphone is set to offer a bevy of features in a slim and sleek form factor (much like the Apple iPhone).

The HTC Touch features the new TouchFLO interface – basically a reworked multi-touch interface – which allows quick and easy finger-navigation through the Touch’s functions. Expect the Touch to rock a 2 megapixel camera, quad-band GSM/EDGE radio, and Bluetooth – all in a slim 108 x 58 x 14 mm package. We’ve covered all this before, so we won’t go into too much more detail.

We can expect a US release sometime late this year – presumably in time for the holiday shopping season. The US release follows the HTC Touch’s European and UK launch this month.

  1. We have been testing the latest version of Microsoft’s new mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6, this week on what we believe is an excellent new mobile device called the Touch from HTC. The Touch is an innovation in touch screen PDA’s with a new front end user interface for the Windows Mobile platform. First of all, a look at the physical device.
