TruphoneIf you’re a Nokia smartphone user or one of our readers, you’re probably already familiar with Truphone VoIP client. The main advantage of this app is that it automatically uses wireless networks where available, thus provides users with as seamless as possible usage of their serve — and what I mean is that Skype is complicated to use compared with Truphone. Anyhow, the sneak preview of the version 3.0 is now available for download. It should bring such features as:

  • Better presence view, so you know when can you make cheap VoIP phone calls
  • Free SMS messages to other Truphone users
  • TruphoneSupport for multiple SIM cards - useful for frequent travellers
  • Truphone 3.0 works over 3G networks - this is probably the single most important new feature. If you’re on an unlimited data plan, you can ALWAYS use Truphone for more affordable phone calls.

One thing to note — Truphone only works on SIP enabled smartphones that include Nokia N80ie, N95, and WLAN-enabled ESeries devices. More information about Truphone 3.0 is available on Truphone Blog.
