iChat: AIM for iPhone via JavaScript

iChatAgain, it’s David Cann that made another iPhone web application. This time it’s JavaScript-powered iChat that allows chatting with your friends from AIM via iPhone. The application is still in the early stage of development and the moment doesn’t support groups and buddy icons, and opening of more than 4 conversations gets unruly. Like the iPhone-optimized version of Digg, the iChat was also built with Yahoo! UI Library and PHP, and instead of Digg API – David used BlueTOC.

The complete source of the program is available for download and you can get it from here. While you’re there you can also test the web app for yourself (note: it requires Firefox or Safari).

it looks like Apple want to make development for its devices entirely web and connected like google-style. Launch of Safari on Windows proves that.

There’s a point in your words. Still I would love to see the SDK for iPhone released. After all they do develop and allow others to develop applications for Mac, why not for an iPhone? Security is a solid reason, but I would want more 3rd party apps nevertheless.
