Carphone Warehouse may offer Omniphone’s Music Station service on handhelds

Carphone Warehouse may preload its handsets with Music Station software from omniphone - mobile phone dealOmniphone really made a splash in the mobile music subcription-pool with their Music Station release last week! So much so that Carphone Warehouse (one of the largest mobile phone vendors in the world) has hit up Omniphone to talk business about Music Station. The new service went live weeks before the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone launch, and the accompanying iTunes mobile music service. Carphone Warehouse lost out as a potential Apple iPhone vendor – which might explain why CW might be trying to ink an exclusive deal with Apple’s music subcription service competitor.

The Times Online says that, “According to music industry sources, the deal that Carphone is considering would mean that around three-quarters of the phones it sells in the key preChristmas trading period would come with Music Station software preloaded.” That’s a huge deal for Omniphone’s brand new service!
