The unofficial iPhone developers bootcamp aims to bring us more iPhone Web 2.0 apps this summer

iPhoneWith fans like this who needs marketing. It’s not enough that Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) already got $400 million worth of free publicity, its fans are now organizing a bootcamp for iPhone developers, scheduled to take place one week after the iPhone ships (so that attendees might have a chance to get their hands on one).

The Unofficial iPhone Developers Camp is an upcoming gathering, inspired by BarCamp, SuperHappyDevHouse, and MacHack, to develop web-based applications and optimize web sites for iPhone. It is a non-commercial event, organized by volunteers, with attendance free to all. By the completion of the weekend event, a number of iPhone-ready web applications and web sites will be launched to the public. The event will be held in the Bay Area (California), and out-of-town guests are welcome.

I only hope that some of the existing Web 2.0 companies will also take part in this gathering, and will optimize their services for the iPhone. For instance I’m a big fan of Remember The Milk service (yes, I hope you’re reading and that you’ll Remember The iPhone!). :)

  1. $400 million worth of free publicity, that is sweet. I am sure more, much, much more is on the way. That’s what you get if you are ‘insanely great’!

The ‘Web 2.0′ apps from the SteveNote struck me as particularly lame, but they will surely let developers build real apps for the iPhone eventually. Real iPhone apps are going to KICK!
