MetroPCS to pick up Chinese ZTE C88 as a mid level feature phoneSo it looks like MetroPCS will be picking up the Chinese-made ZTE C88 feature phone, from, well, ZTE. The FCC shows us a slim clamshell that sports a slightly RAZR-esque exterior with dual color displays (interior and exterior). The backlit keyboard also has a slight resemblance to the RAZR keypad, but its more subtle.

Don’t expect too much from this middle-of-the-pack flip-phone – you get a camera, stereo Bluetooth, USB data port, speakerphone and a microSD card slot.

  • Miriam

Eric, it may be that you didn’t charge you phone properly when it was new, you are not suppose to charge the phone until it die and them re-charge it, I did what the manual said 3 times and I can have my phone w/out charging for 2 days..

  • Eric

It is weird, but this phone has a memory inside the battery compartment yet it is not funtional to input an SD card. It looks it is there for future planning…that is not fair….

  • Eric

    I meant a memory slot for a memory card….

  • Raidium

I have to agree with Brandon Williams up there. They need to invest there money into some sort of smart phone. i’ve never liked the MetroPCS phone line up and I know alot of people that share the same feelings. i’m sure they would do alot better with a smart phone in the mix! :D

  • Mo

can i use bluetooth earpiece for this phone…am tired of carryin the phone..i know i can’t use regular ear piece

  • Lisa

I just got this phone three months ago. SAVE YOUR MONEY! IT”S A PIECE OF SH_T. It stopped working in two months, I took it to the metro pcs store and they wouldn’t give me my money back. They only offered me a stinking ten dollars. This is a RIP OFF!

  • Junib

I got this phone in Feb. and I haven’t any problems with it. My only issue is I downloaded a couple of ringtones from a site using the browser on my phone but I can’t find then on the phone itself anywhere. Does anyone know anything about downloading to this phone. It was mp3 tones that I downloaded.

how do i turn my bluetooth headphone on my phone?

  • No Ebonics for ME!

all of you don’t know how to spell! Damn are you people in America? Shame on you!

  • Mamarati

Sue… to turn off the predictive text / ezi feature try pushing whatever button is the shift for you. I had this problem on my Kyocera phone while using AIM and the shift was on the * key. Pressing that toggled through all the different text modes / numbers /symbols / whatnot.

The only reason the battery might have not worked for some people,

  • tonio

is there any usb driver software for windows vista

  • ChrisseyAnn

The problem that most of you are havng with the “free” ringtones sites are that, Metro will only let you use their “paid” for ring tones. Incidently, Metro won’t let you send anyone the “paid” for ring tones…

So even if your phone says that you’ve downloaded the file, the phone won’t save it to a usable place where you can access the file to reuse it later.

The best way around this, is to have someone else get the “free” ring tones and then send them to you. This is what my husband does for me.

I had this ZTE phone for more than a year, with no complaints until after my son jumped into the pool with it in his pocket.

The texting capabilities worked fine, and the camera worked ’til then. The only reason the battery might have not worked for some people, is that the phone tends to search for the best signal at times (depending on where you are located at) and that can wear the battery down. The best way to circumvent that, is to turn the sound off or put the phone on vibrate, and to turn the backlighting off.

  • juggalostyle17

well i have to say that my c88 has been good to me. my brother in law bought it in feb of 08 and used it for 6 months or so then his kids played weith it and then somehow my kids ended up with it my phone broke and i bought a charger for the c88 and plugged it in and had my service transferd to the c88 and have been using it for 2 months and am verry happy with it except for the fact that i cant get the videos or tones from myxer.com to save to the phone itself. all of my other metro phones have saved them upon downloading them

  • Angie
