Video: Apple iPhone vs Nokia N95, episode 1

I hate to steal a marketing term, but Nokia (NYSE: NOK) really does connect people. When I started my RingNokia blog over half a year ago I had my phone number listed in the right hand corner. I felt that if anyone wanted to connect to me they could shoot me a text or even give me a call (+1 817 808 9258). Ricky Cadden, a blogger I knew, instantly recognized that 817 prefix and asked where I lived. A few emails back and forth and we soon discovered we were only 15 miles (24 km) away from each other.
Neither of us like the iPhone and we were amazed no one made any commercials bashing it. We got together one afternoon and shoot 6 parodies of the Mac vs PC commercials. One will be released everyday at 18:00 CST until the iPhone’s launch on Friday. Hope you find them funny.

This is GREAT! If only Nokia marketing were taking advantage of this opportunity to a) promote their products and b) let people know that they don’t have to tie themselves to a carrier to get a cool phone. It’s sad when the marketing lags behind the quality of the product (usually, it’s the other way around).

The iPhone is depressing me. Especially the ads calling it revolutionary. It’s got a slick UI and that is it. Everything else is average or below par.
I’m sick of seeing so many posts calling it the best phone to ever be released when it’s far from that. My N95 is far more revolutionary than the iPhone is. Maybe the 2nd generation iPhone will be up to the title but right now it’s just not worth the money. It looks to me like Apple have managed to get people to pay $600 to participate in a Beta program. 2 year phone contract? Get real! There’ll be another version of the iPhone out before then, will people have to apy $600 for a new version and have to extend their contract another 2 years?
