By June 2008 Nokia plans to enter the Chinese TD-SCDMA market

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has been working with China in creating the TD-SCDMA standard and now they are finally going to launch the technology and deploy handsets around it. China is huge, along with the Middle East, in terms of volume. The emerging markets are where the money is, but it is quickly becoming a competitive field. Samsung used to be more aggressive in the low end range of device, but after they bailed out many tiny Chinese rivals began popping up. Time for Nokia to bust out the fly swatter.
