We’re in the final stretch of the pre-iPhone launch, and time is molasses – all gooey and shapeless, with no real direction or flow. Why is it that time seems to slow as anticipation increases? That question is beyond the scope of this particular blow, but we can’t deny its truth.
Helicopters are flying overhead, non-Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone line-waiters are crowding the Apple Store’s front door, and Apple employees have started to black-out the windows. The mere act of blacking-out the windows stirred up a frenzy and kicked up the crowd’s mood another notch.
But, we see the goal and it’s completely worth it! Tourists are treating us with celebrity and contempt – all rolled into a ball of sarcastic wit. No matter, we can almost taste the Apple iPhone, and it’s enticing. iPhone, here we come!
Straight from the 3rd Street Promenade Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) Store in Santa Monica, Into iPhone is still bringing you embedded field coverage of the Apple iPhone Launch event – now with 25.8% more live coverag-iness. That was a joke – but we are still bringing you live streaming web video of the goings on at the Apple Store in Santa Monica!
The weather is warming up quite a bit, and we’re making friends. People, again, are really friendly out here – even the tight-lipped Apple employees.
We have some unconfirmed reports of the “my dad knows somebody who knows a guy that works in this store” kind. Apparently, this particular Apple Store is stocking upwards of 450 iPhones. Now, we have no reason to believe this is true, or if it is even possible for this guy to have this information – but we’re comfortable with that number. Given our position in line, we can be pretty sure that we’ll get our maximum allotment of 2 iPhones per person.
We also have some worries regarding the handling of line wait-ers. How will Apple ensure that there won’t be any line-jacking when the friends of people ahead of us in the queue show up and swoop in the line. Again, from a dodgy convo we had with an Apple employee, we have reason to believe that Apple will be rolling out a solution to prevent any line-jacking when they shut down at 2PM.
That’s it for now! Keep checking out live streaming webcast! It will be down momemtarily from time to time as we update the blog (we don’t have the bandwidth to stream and blog at the same time). But log on and get into the chat room – that’s where the action is!
Don’t have money for the iPhone? Don’t worry, you can still have it — or at least the paper version of it. Or if you’re waiting for the real iPhone, one of these will make you one of the most popular guys/gals in the line.
Thanks to Gizmodo, we are presenting you with the iPhone cutout pattern. The paper iPhone may not respond to your touches, but it’s free! Here’s the download link (PDF file).
Guess who wants to be on your iPhone – the good null’ Playboy. It’s funny to see the major brands jumping around Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s flagship handset. I agree it looks cool, but someone is about to make it real hot.
Anyway, Hugh&Co wants to offer some free content to anyone who buys a phone from Steve&Co. And the content includes Playboy wallpapers, photos, videos, and MP3s customized for the iPhone.
Hey Hugh what about the rest of us, who find the iPhone too expensive? Drop us some free content too… The short release follows after the break.
Developer of the popular project management web-based applications 37signals is working to optimize its widely popular Ta-Da list for the iPhone users. Not that their web-based to-do web app doesn’t work on the iPhone out of the box — they want to optimize it to better fit to the overall iPhone’s UI.
It’s obvious that the 37signals guys are Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) fans, with one of them even adding how designing for the iPhone is “like a hybrid of print and web design.” To put it in another way – it’s a “refreshing experience.”
Like it or not, one of the most popular online to-do list solutions is about to hit the iPhone!
Don’t like the iPhone? The Flash-based iSmudginator is the right tool for you. Basically, it’s designed to help future iPhone users getting used to scratching and smudging, but you are free to use it to destroy Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s evil — if that’s the way you feel about it.
Check it out! We’re streaming the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone launch – live and in the rough! Technical difficulties have been solved and we’re back up and running! Come talk to us on the chat – and don’t forget to Skype it in!
Check out this release from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless. Basically, they are saying that their stores will be open until 9:00 p.m. in most markets to “give customers plenty of time to Test Drive the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network.” Sure you do…
iPhone has started selling, and Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) along with its partner in crime – AT&T (NYSE: T) are the stars of the day. Get over it. Better shut your stores ASAP — no one’s going to enter them anyway today. Get ready for tomorrow…
Just when we thought that iPhone users will not be able to edit their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, Zoho jumped in to provide support for its users, who at the same time are (will be) using Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s flagship handset.
So, they’ve launched iZoho, an iPhone-optimized version of their popular online office/collaboration suite. Don’t expect a full range of desktop-like features on the iPhone — everything is simplified, and the sliding pages suggest the iPhone-like user experience.
Located at www.izoho.com, the new service allows Zoho users to access their Writer, Sheet and Show documents. Zoho’s latest services like Planner, Project, Wiki, Notebook and Meeting, still wait to be optimized for the iPhone UI, and the company promised to deliver more in the coming months.
