Nokia is getting jiggy with it, licences vibration technology for tactile feedback

Nokia has obtained a world wide licence from Immersion Corporation for VibeTonz, a technology that “delivers a broad range of tactile feedback effects to make user interface features, applications, and downloadable, multimedia content more intuitive and engaging.”

Nice marketing talk, we shall have to see how well this works in the real world. S60 Feature Pack 1 was the first version of S60 that made the phone vibrate when you turned it on, I wonder how much more we will be seeing of that kind of feedback. How will this impact battery life?

The only phone on the market that uses VibeTonz, correct me if I’m wrong here, is the Samsung SCH-W559. You never heard of it because it only launched in China.
