A small projector in a mobile phone. Sounds like a dream… But wait, we’ve already seen TI demonstrating DLP projection technology at CTIA, as well as Explay OiO showcasing its small projector at SID 2007. Still, it looked so far away — at least 2 years to reach the mainstream consumer, as far as I thought.

And now it’s happening! Korean SK Telecom said it will be releasing new handsets that will come with a built-in Nano Projector THIS YEAR! The Nano Projector that will come bundled in the phones is capable of throwing images of up to 20″ in size onto a screen or wall. It’s like a dream come true! All we have to do is wait for Korean handset makers to export their Nano Projector equipped devices to the Western Hemisphere, and voila… the whole crowd can enjoy your movies with you.
