Verizon upgrades entire network to EV-DO Rev. A

Recently, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless announced that it has upgraded its entire EV-DO high-speed data network to the Revision A standard. What this means is that Verizon subscribers that happen to have an EV-DO Rev. A compatible handset will experience faster download speeds. The upgraded network will provide users with up to 1.4 megabits per second downlink and 600 kilobits per second uplink speeds — in theory 1MB file will take approximately eight seconds to download. Real life speeds may differ though.
There you have it. If you own an old EV-DO modem, now may be the time to get a new one. Also, if you want to stick with Verizon and don’t have an EV-DO Rev. A phone, it’s the perfect moment for upgrade.
