Developer of OpenDocument software for mobile devices SEPT-Solutions released its popular Mobile Office suite of apps for the latest Symbian OS UIQ 3+ based smartphones, including Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) P1i and Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Z8. Using Mobile Office, owners of the mentioned devices will be able to read ODF documents (created in OpenOffice, StarOffice or KOffice) without the need to convert them to other formats as well as compromising on formatting and ODF features.
I wonder why SEPT-Solutions haven’t enabled editing of the documents. Guess that would add thousands of new lines in the program code, but somehow the pure document viewer doesn’t make sense to me. On the other hand, I’m not a big OpenOffice user and having an additional app that could help me with those kind of documents could be neat.
Interested? Mobile Office is currently selling for 14,99 EUR, and you can grab your copy from here.
