RIM launches GPS and WiFi equipped BlackBerry 8820

After years of customer demand, RIM finally decided to go the WiFi way with the new BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 8820. But the addition of WiFi is not the only new feature of the latest BlackBerry — there’s also the quad-band GSM/EDGE radio (no 3G?), built-in GPS for accessing the location based services, support for microSDHC memory cards of up to 32GB, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), and the modernized media player we’ve initially seen in the Curve. Furthermore, the new CrackBerry also packs the support for unlicensed mobile access (UMA) to allow users seamless roaming between WiFi hotspots and the cellular network.
There you have it — an additional push-email fix is about to hit Europe, with U.S. release to follow later this summer on AT&T (NYSE: T). Hopefully, they will release the version for their addicts on CDMA networks as well.
