Truphone is a service that allows you to make really cheap phone calls using voice over ip technology. You’ve been doing it for years on Skype, but now you can do it on your mobile phone. This makes operators metaphorically crap their pants because you can easily buy a SIM card with an unlimited data package and ignore these things previously known as minutes or per text message charges.

Operators don’t want to be known as pipes, but at the end of the day I really wish they would just stop spending all this money on advertising locked handsets and contracts and pour it into the network.
