Oceanside, California plans to turn cell tower into “work of art”

Cell towers are an eye-sore, that’s a given – and suburbia has this thing against anything that might scar the pristine landscape. So, it makes sense to give cell towers the camouflage treatment – disguised as everything from trees to being hidden in church steeples. Now, the town of Oceanside, in San Diego, CA., has plans to gussy up a cell tower as a “work of art.” The Oceanside Art Commission is seeking approval to cover the tower in a “netlike swirl of material around the pole [with] dozens of foam seabirds in and around the netting.”

Interesting idea, but wouldn’t it just be easier to turn it into a palm (NSDQ: PALM) tree or something?
