Some things I will never understand at Nokia (NYSE: NOK). They push open source heavily, yet on a Linux based device they choose to go with a closed source browser built by Opera. Hopefully this maemo version of the rendering engine behind Firefox 3.0 will enable a better browsing experience than what the N800 currently offers. At the end of the day I think the processor inside the Internet Tablet’s are just too slow to render the full internet properly.

If you can’t do youtube, I don’t want you.

Stefan… have you taken leave of your senses?

Opera worked well on the N800 (and also 770) – both devices have sufficient horsepower to render the “full internet” – Nokia Internet tablets offer by far the best browsing experience compared with Windows Mobile and Palm devices.

Sure, Opera has bugs which Opera seem pretty slow to fix so it’s good to see Nokia moving towards Mozilla and hopefully getting a better quality product (it’s looking damned good so far) which is open source to boot! :)

And YouTube works well on the N800s following the most recent firmware update (6 July, v4.2007.26-8).
