If its not a2dp then its a carbon copy of it. Ive just paired my wifes N73 up with my laptop running Vista Ultimate and the latest Broadcom bluetooth stack. Straight away the computer sees the following audio profiles on the phone. Telephone Audio Gateway and Stereo Audio Player, if you hook up using the stereo option the quality of the streamed music is identical to my K800i (which does support asdp)... strange!

Peter fields is right. I asked Nokia Europe if it was true and they said A2DP is a hardware thing so you can't change it with updating the firmware. Some of you who may have A2DP headsets that work with the N73, but that's only because your headset enables HSP Bluetooth Profile, compatible with N73.

The Nokia does NOT support A2DP nor HCRP. This was confirmed from Nokia Europe.
Headsets connecting to A2DP will probably connect using another protocol causing unsatisfactory results i.e. broken audio.

Hi..FYI...

A2DP stands for "Advanced Audio Distribution Profile"
&
AVRCP stands for "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile"

Brief explaination :
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
The A2DP profile describes how stereo quality audio can be streamed from a media source to a sink. The profile defines two roles of an audio source and sink. A typical usage scenario can be considered as the “walkman” class of media player. The audio source would be the music player and the audio sink is the wireless headset. A2DP defines the protocols and procedures that realize distribution of audio content of high-quality in mono or stereo on ACL channels.

Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
AVRCP is designed to provide a standard interface to control TVs, Hi-fi equipment, etc. This profile is used to allow a single remote control (or other device) to control all the A/V equipment that a user has access to. AVRCP defines how to control characteristics of streaming media. This includes pausing, stopping, and starting playback and volume control as well as other types of remote control operations.
