Fake Nokia N66

By Dusan Belic on Monday, July 23rd, 2007 at 6:34 AM PST In Devices, Nokia

Some Chinese handset manufacturers are like a rock — they just can’t be stopped in their effort to copy and clone everything. That’s why you should be careful when buying a handset (and everything else for that matter).

Fake Nokia N66

Latest fake device we spotted is the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N66. No, it’s not a copy of the N66, as such phone DOESN’T exist. It’s a result of a Chinese handset maker’s “creativity” which blatantly stolen Nokia’s brand. Anyway, the fake N66 measures 108×50x10 mm, weighs 90 grams, and comes with a 2.6″ touchscreen, 1.3 MP camera, stereo speakers, and microSD expansion slot.

Again, watch out people. This device actually doesn’t look that bad and has a Nokia logo that is very similar to the original sign. More photos after the break…

Its is fake no doubt but as can be judged from the news clips , one-fifth the price of new ones with extra loaded features (touch screen , double sim etc) has a market to satisfy.

NOkia should rather look at not pricing thier new sets in the premium range. My point is if a new phone is out in say August its prices will dip real hard by January, so they are workign with huge margins. Let them also understand that premium pricing if backed with real deal is ok but pricing so that they can skim the cream from initial buyers is bad enough.

 there is a huge fault in fake nokia N66. it gets restarted itself after every one or two days.specially while using GPRS.but its voice is very much louder then any other cell phonei have ever seen.
it has 4 spekers at its back that make loud and clear sound.

  5. oby says:

the relevant issue here is; does the phone work, i.e., is it functional? is it worth the price at which it is sold? are phones from other brands with similar features affordable to the general public? the answers to these questions will help other phone manufacturers thing straight and know whether they have what it takes to stamp out fake manufacturers or not.

This thing really should be taken care of. Fake manufactorers need to be sued and put outa business. In this case, Nokia should be able to take everything from this manufactorer for using their name to promote a fake device. I hope Nokia does something about this and I hope it shows other fakes out there to stop being stupid and be original for one in there 90D D4MN lives!!!
