Nokia set to snap up photo-sharing website Twango

Twango logoIn their push to expand their social networking offerings, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has announced their intention to buy the photo-sharing social-networking service Twango. Anssi Vanjoki, head of Nokia’s multimedia unit said, “The Twango acquisition is a concrete step towards our Internet services vision of providing seamless access to information, entertainment, and social networks.”

The future of mobile phones definitely lies in social networking, and with this newest acquisition, Nokia is set to provide “the most complete suite of connected multimedia experiences including music, navigation, games, and… photos, videos, and a variety of document types.”

Update: Stefan here, resident Nokia addict. According to Light Reading the deal was valued at a hair under $100 Million. Props to them for the wickedly cunning title “It takes Web 2.0 to Twango.”
