Just recently we discussed to reduce the number of posts that deal with concept devices on IntoMobile. I just couldn’t help myself… But, wait there’s a story behind this concept I want to tell you…
First of all I LOVE Sony Ericsson phones. I also find quite compelling their idea to differentiate their handsets by categories/brands like Walkman, Cybershot and Bravia (in Japan). However, I find they’re missing customers for the real high-end devices which want all those features — high quality camera and a solid media player plus more (i.e. GPS) — built inside a single device. After all, high-end phone users should have an alternative to the Nokia N95.
And, this concept device designed by “S4k1s” from Esato forums is something I could potentialy use. It has a high-quality camera, and a Walkman player. Now that I’m thinking the original Sony Ericsson K850i has all that, but it’s NOT a smartphone and doesn’t have a WiFi. Yeah, I want to be able to install real 3rd party apps (not Java) on my phone. Sony Ericsson W960i is the closest thing to the perfect device, yet it lacks HSDPA. Plus, I still wait to see if there are some improvements in UIQ’s way-too-much touchscreen dependent user interface. Sony Ericsson do you read this? Send us over the W960i for a review!
