FCC approves Nokia’s 3500 Classic

The sleek low-ender in Nokia’s lineup, the 3500 Classic, has gotten that much closer to hitting US shores. FCC approvals tend to indicate as much. As we noted before, the Nokia 3500 Classic will come packin’ the goods - the 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, microSD slot, and Bluetooth goods.
The lower-end of the Nokia lineup comes with a $180 price point and features the Nokia Navi-key and mini-USB interfaces.

We’ll keep you updated on the US launch as more details are made available.

AFAIK, Nokia and other manufacturers get a lot of their phones approved by FCC even if they have no plans to bring the phone to the US market. I’ve understood the FCC approval is acknowledged in some other countries as equivalent to their own or is viewed as sufficient or is required. Can anyone confirm if this true or not?
