Bluetooth 2.1+EDR approved and ready

By Dusan Belic on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 at 4:53 AM PST In Announcements, Technologies

Bluetooth logoBluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced the adoption of Core Specification Version 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) by unanimous approval. Improvements of the new Bluetooth specification include advances in security, simplified pairing, and enhanced power optimization — all in all Bluetooth SIG promises improved Bluetooth experience for the consumers. What about the new generation of Bluetooth products? According to their press release, we should expect to see the first Bluetooth 2.1+EDR enabled products shipping by the end of the year!

In the meantime, I’m still waiting for Nokia (NYSE: NOK) to release an update for my N93 and 5500 handsets that would include A2DP. :(
