I’m not actually sure this is the first mobile betting service, but there’s certainly something innovative about it. As the U.S. government bans all kinds of online gambling that involve money, at least initially Swamble allows bets to be settled only with things other than cash. For instance, one of the first bets on Swamble were whether Transformers would have a bigger opening weekend than Spiderman 3. The wager required that loser or losers write a blog post linking to the winner(s).

While this sounds like fun, the non-cash betting doesn’t sound like a solid business model for Swamble. Hence, they plan to introduce a private wagering feature in the near future. Furthermore, Swamble may also count on the future regulations that might ease the restrictions on Internet gambling. In the meantime, if you want to bet directly from your handset, feel free to visit mobile.swamble.com.
