We all know why I’m in Finland; I’m attempting to score a full time position at Nokia (NYSE: NOK) because I honestly feel like I can make a difference. Call it being young and dumb and full of dreams, but I would rather chase my goals than lead the path of taking safe choices. All that aside, here is one position on the external job boards that stuck out:
NokiaMusic Service Manager – Finland
At Multimedia we are currently looking to employ a talented individual as a Music Service Manager. Based in either Helsinki or Espoo, Finland, you will report to the Regional Manager and be in charge of the management and development of a Nokia Music Service, its affiliates and associates within Finland. Your ultimate aim will be to maximize Nokia Music’s business in the market by perfecting its localization, liaising with local music labels and B2B partners and by successfully implementing promotions. On a day-to-day basis, this will involve taking charge of strategy, editing the service and its newsletter, as well as sourcing the local catalog and its new releases. In addition to this, you will be responsible for achieving key performance indicators and managing relationships with 3rd parties such as local payment gateways, publishing collecting societies and sales chart organizations.
Another key part of your remit will be to sell and implement affiliation and bundle deals within the country as well as to translate for the localization of enhancements and new versions of the services in the market. In order to flourish in this role, you will work in close cooperation with a wide variety of Nokia professionals including the Technical Service Manager, Label Manager, and Music Editor for the day to day operation of the service. You will also share experience with other Service Managers and the local Multimedia Sales and Marketing team.
Fortune wouldn’t lie, this is just one more piece of evidence proving their article.

ooh! how ballsy of Nokia to go after the Finnish music market – when they conquer that, maybe Borat can help them tackle Kazakhstan and win that market – this is pathetic!
You retard, you think its the only market its aimed at? Lol..
You Americans amaze me..
Kallasvuo, I am not American but can you elaborate? How do you know gowild is (if he/she is what you are referring to) American?
you euro clowns crack me up! so Nokia has these big plans in music but they’re hiring a guy to do the Finnish market – that would be like Motorola hiring a guy for the New Jersey market – do you see how foolish this is? why waste that effort on a market the size of Finland? it’s a ROUNDING error! and all that Finnish “content” won’t but them squat on the world stage – so I ask again why bother? talk to us when they have a serious plan to bring a music service to the WORLD, not a portion of the Nordic countries! LOL
I spoke too soon – that shouldn’t be the New Jersey market, it should be the Colorado market – New Jersey is way too big! LOL even more:

Lol.. you are the one who does not get it.. AGAIN, do you think they are targeting JUST Finland with this service?
Having a regional/country specific managerS is nothing exceptional. This is not the ONLY Nokia Music Manager that is going to be hired, there will be scores of them for each sub-market, as part of a global organization.
And even if you would think Finland as a sub-market is not big enough, the SIZE of a particular market is not all that matters. Finland is Nokia’s home market and in a country with extremely high cell phone and internet penetration and people with disposable income, and less attachment to any particular existing service = perfect market for testing things out.
Stefan, I wish you good luck in your pursuit to work at Nokia. You are living the Finnish (not American) dream!
I see in you what I’d like to have for me. And seeing that it is in fact possible, leaves everybody who feels like you do very happy.
If anyone should work at nokia that is you.
Cheers
Reading the new 8GB N95 manual on the FCC at the moment actually has a section on how to connect to the music store from the mobile, and from the PC mentions the url http://www.nokia.com/music. That’s pretty much confirmed…
