iSkoot goes UIQ; Available for Sony Ericsson P1i

By Dusan Belic on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007 at 11:23 AM PST In Announcements, Applications, Services, Symbian

iSkootiSkoot — also known as Skype on X-Series for 3 — has just announced that their popular Skype client will be available on the recently released Sony Ericsson P1i Symbian UIQ 3-based smartphone. In order to enable Skype chat, Skype-to-Skype and Skype Out calls, the P1i owners will have to get iSkoot either via a direct download service through the “More Applications” icon in the Phone User Interface or from the Sony Ericsson website.

We’re still not sure whether iSkoot can use the built-in WiFi, or it keeps relying on the 3G network connection, which is not bad solution for those on an unlimited data plan…

    Hi,

Actually iSkoot doesn’t use a data connection to make the calls, it establishs a regular GSM call for that. Data is only used for logging in, getting and updating users presence and chatting (if it’s supported by the specific version).

    Regards
