As much as we all love the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Garnet OS, it’s time for Palm to move on. Just kidding, we don’t much care for Garnet – it’s got to go, and we’re happy to hear that Palm may be prepping a Linux-based smartphone for an October release (ahead of expectations). DigiTimes reports that Palm is developing their Linux-based OS on the Wind River Linux platform that’s used in the company’s Foleo mobile companion.
It seems that Palm is looking to facilitate the integration of the Linux-based application between the Foleo and this upcoming smartphone – a smart move if Palm really wants its “mobile companion” to actually stand a chance against UMPCs.
