Google Mobile apps reverse web activity trends

Google logoUsually people are using Internet less frequently during the summer days. However, that’s apparently not the case with Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Mobile apps, which have seen a spike this summer. Completely reversing typical trends for web activity, Google has reported a 35% increase of its mobile apps usage from May to June.

It’s hard to say what this means. On one hand, we could argue how people are getting more comfortable with using Google’s mobile applications. On the other hand, let’s not forget iPhone which comes with pre-installed Google Maps has been launched on June 29. Or it’s a combination of the two — non-iPhone users suddenly realized that they can use Google Maps and other Google Mobile apps on their handsets too. What do you think?

  1. Will Neale says:

Surely this is simply because people do not sit in front of their computers during summer months – but when they are out and about or on holiday then they are more likely to use their mobile to access apps?
