Windows Mobile 6.0 ROM cooked and ready for PPC-6700 and XV6700 users

If you and your Sprint (NYSE: S) PPC-6700 or Verizon (NYSE: VZ) XV6700 (HTC Apache) have been feeling a little left out in the cold while all those other handsets get that sought-after Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional upgrade, buck up little buddy! ppcgeeks forum user Helmi_c has finally finished cooking his own WM6 ROM for said handsets.
Helmi_c will be dropping the WinMo6.0 bomb on us tomorrow – and will be providing carrier-branded ROMs for your convenience. Props and kudos to Helmi_c!
We love it when the little guy takes matter into his own hands and fills a need that manufacturers and carriers have woefully neglected to address. Especially when it means a brand new OS for WinMo fans.

This worked out great for me. Just be sure to save your contacts with a 3rd party program you can reinstall on the new upgrade, or you will lose all your contacts. I had a coworker with the same phone who took my old pim, and beamed each contact over. Saved me. Other then that, great job! love it even more…
After performing this upgrade I can no longer connect to my PC via ActiveSync. Anyone have the same issue or a solution?

hey i bout a pocket pc off ebay thats supposed 2 be flashed 2 cricket and it is tho and its windows 6.0….i need help bad i cant get my internt explorer 2 work or anything internet or my wifi thing.and cant load contacts.i need 2 know how i sould set it up 4 cricket wap or something please help

I have the Apache PPC 6700 with the new WM6. My phone has been flashed to Cricket wireless. I cannot do picture mail or connect to Cricket WAP. I have these features enable via cricket so I’m at a loss. I’m told these features should work. Going to PPCGeeks.com and Howard’s Forum does not resolve my issues even though others claim the features work for them. I’m am not happy….

This ROM does work for the 6700. Runs a bit slower but not that noticeable. Its nice.
You can get your 6700 running on the WM6.1 by following the steps found here http://dotdoh.com/?p=5 . Just have to use the correct ROM
Hi, I just full flashed my apache 6700(sprint)to cricket and I had windows 6 but was told it had to be downgraded back to windows 5. the guy told since this is and unoffical cricket windows that I wouldn’t be able to update or it will erase everything and the phone won’t work. I want windows 6 without hurting the cricket service and programs can someone help me
I have purchased a used vx6700 verizon and would like this upgrade. where can I get it. I have been searching for days with no luck. anything you can tell me will be very helpfull. also I would lke to send and receive picture messages MMS without using email. how do I do this. I am hoping the upgrade helps with this as well. thank you
I have heard that the ROM can cause problems on the device and will cause it to not boot. i really don’t want to have spent all the money to turn the phone into a paperweight. WM6 is nice, and i’d love to install it, but will it really safely work on my PPC6700?
