Talk about a beautiful phone! The revived Motorola PEBL lineup’s flagship has been snapped in the wild and we’ve got the visual goods. The MOTO ROKR U9 PEBL gleams with that bling-worthy, chromed-out finish that hides those touch-sensitive external music controls.

But, the Motorola ROKR U9 PEBL isn’t all beauty, it’s got some decent brains under that shiny exterior. We’re talking about a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM radio with EDGE, Stereo Bluetooth, microSD card slot, 2 megapixel camera, and of course that incredible external display with those touch-sensitive music controls – all in a 90×48.6×16.4 mm package that tips the scales at 87.5 grams. Them’s some respectable brains.

Ive been using this phone for almost a month now. I must say that I fell in love with this cool stuff at the very first glance. lookwise its really cool. Only thing you have to take care of is the flip top surface as it is as glossy as glass. So it can be affected by scratches. Functionality wise, this phone is quite satisfactory…infact quite good. It has got a 2 MP camera with 8x zoom. However, the picture quality is best at 1x and 2x zoom. It has got a functional front camera as well.It has got some editable features for the camera with Regular mode, night mode, colours (black&white, antique, red etc.), tag. Sound quality is also good. You will enjoy Listening to music with headphones. The speaker phone is also quite good.Bluetooth is available. Works pretty well.
Battery backup is entirely dependent on the usage…please note that multimedia usage consumes more battery power.
Price:10k….in mobile store it is around 10,500 (kolkata price)
My Overall experience with this phone till now is very good.

I bought this phone in august 2008. my friend had it and I liked what I saw. But within a month of my buying it, its flip top started giving me trouble. It would open with a bit of ressistance. Before I realized what was happening, the corner below the hinge (where the top is attached to the phone) came out.

Now my friend’s phone has developed the SAME defect. On top of it, the place where I purchased it from ( RPG Cellucom) has the same model displayed there which has the SAME defect. Its seems to be a design defect.

Since then I have been running from pillar to post. I am willing to pay (though the phone is still in warranty period) for a replacement of the band that runs around the phone, there is no guarantee that it wont happen again. I feel the company should recall this model. If you are planning to buy this model, think twice before doing so.
