Kristall Vodka SMS Verification Service makes sure you drink again

Earlier in June, we wrote how Russians will use SMS to find out if their booze are legit — after last year about 40,000 people died in the country from toxic alcohol surrogates. Not sure when this actually started happening, but just a few days one of the Russian Vodka makers, Kristall, started using this clever tactic. In case you’re sober enough, you should check the special sticker on the cap of the bottle and send the containing numeric code to the Kristall Vodka SMS verification service. Every bottle has a unique ID and the sticker is damaged when the cap is opened, so it cannot be used twice. Following the “grand opening” you will… I’m sure you can take it from there.
