Video: Palm Treo 500v user interface, easiest smartphone to use, ever?

Jason Langridge is the Mobility Business Manager for Microsoft in the EMEA region and a total geek. He hooked up his Treo 500v to his PC via a program called Pocket Controller to show us what the user interface of the 500v and I think you’re going to be as amazed as I am:

Granted, this was not running in real time, it was skipping a few frames. All that aside now, you have to be asking yourself, can a smartphone get any easier? You have access to everything you could possibly want to do with a device in a convenient carrousel type view. Does this seem familiar? Yes it does, I posted a video last week after the Go Play event to set the story straight on the whole “Nokia copied Apple” news blitz:

At the end of the day, I thank Sony for the PSP/PS3 who probably had a hand in inspiring both these companies:

I’m curious to test out this new Treo 500v, bring out the unlocked version already, slap some GPS in there and a camera with autofocus and I’ll buy my first Palm in what seems like 4 years now. As for my reference to Sony, my message to them is to fly some of those engineers out to Sweden to give UIQ a much needed user interface lift.

please do not tell me that the iphone is an easier smartphone to use, the iphone is not a smartphone

Grab a flight back to the States and pick up a Verizon branded phone. The 500v works about the same way. I can’t believe you like that kind of menu structure? To each their own.

Vodafone does hold a majority stake in Verizon, never had a CDMA phone.
