GMail Mobile service updatedGoogle has announced an update of its GMail mobile web site. Now users can chose between AJAX and AJAX-less version for accessing their Gmail accounts via mobile web browsers and do much more with their email while on the go. For instance, the new version allows such actions as adding links to some of your labels and viewing other sections such as Spam and Drafts. In addition, just like with the full desktop version, messages could be archived, deleted, reported as spam, labeled, marked as read, and starred.

It’s nice that Google wants to bring GMail mobile version to the point of perfection, but I just don’t get why would anyone want to access its GMail account via mobile web — the Java ME app rocks. Ok, maybe if you’re on an iPhone it makes sense…

For those of us with iPhones that don’t want to use Gmail POP, the new ajax interface is a blessing in Safari. Now I can stay synced whether I’m using a full browser or on the move.

GMails Java Client isn’t adapted to Google Premium accounts yet… unless I didn’t dig far enough.

Anyways, Google Mails in desktop version rocks on an N800 :-)

Gmail java doesn’t work in some countries (it didn’t when I last tried it)

I still like using the basic html version on the N95 cause it allows me to download attachments, while sadly the java client doesnt!
