Samsung U470 Juke to hit Verizon Wireless

Samsung’s U470 is an interesting little sucker. It’s definitely one of the smallest swivel-phones that we’ve seen and now we have some more details on the svelte musicphone. The Samsung U470 will be coming to Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s network as the Samsung “Juke.”

Thanks to an Engadget Mobile tipster, we’ve got the deets on the external controls and the fact that it’s a “basic Verizon Wireless phone.” In other words, don’t expect too much out of the Samsung U470 Juke – aside from the cool swivel feature.

We’re not sure what to think about the design – like we said, it’s an interesting sucker, but we’d stay away from every buying a phone like this.

Click through for more pics and a list of features of the Samsung U470.

  3. Will Park says:

The price point and on-board storage are attractive. The design is a different story

  4. stace says:

i think that its too long!

  5. Will Park says:

Especially when its swiveled open.

  6. DM says:

they changed it. now the phone is 270 dollars. but it still looks cool

  7. Zinnna says:

    damn.
everyone seems to hate this phone. I don’t know about you but I don’t think its half bad. I actually kind of like it.

plus I don’t see you coming up with a cool phone idea so i wouldn’t be the one talking :]

  8. kpinn says:

listen, this is theeee best phone ive seen yet.
so shut up for real. youre just making yourself sound retarded.

  10. Matt says:

I have a phone similiar to this (Samsung SGH X-830), same swivel design, 1GB onboard memory, mp3 function, 1.2 mp Camera, but the keys are in rows of two. I payed around $200 for this, and I love the phone. It takes a few days to get used to, but after a while it is very easy to use. I text faster on it than on a regular phone now. The version I have is built very well, and I highly reccomend it.

  11. laney says:

I have to say that this looks pretty awesome. It caught my eye while shopping for other things, I wasn’t really looking for a phone when it just looks so unique. It even looks like a usb cable. It would be even better if you could store your homework on there, then hey that’s all i would need. Not bad for the price either, Im not really into big phones. I feel it’s perfect for me.

  12. Will Park says:

The price is a big seller for this phone. With more than enough onboard storage for most people, and the low price, I think it’s going to do well. Although, I personally don’t like the design/form-factor.

  13. jbt says:

I just got one of these things for 50 bucks because I’m a new subscriber. Anyways works great and it is very unique. I plugged the usb in and you can use it just like a usb flash drive to transport files. The mp3 player works great, it is a bit too longer when it’s open, but none the less it’s a great phone.

  14. Jeremy says:

know what the juke is a sick ass phone it only cost I think about 150$. You fags wish you had this phone.

  15. Paul says:

I dont know if i shud buy it because i really like the T-Mobile Sidekick LX

Which phone shud i get the juke or sidekick??

  16. omar says:

is this a multi tasked phone? i really need to know cuz i have a LG chocolate and i cant listen to my music and send a text message at the same time thats just messed up. I hate that!! :!:

  17. Yoshi says:

Cool ph! I’ve got it for free w/my 2yr contract maxed out!! 2GB of internal memory, why would I even complain? I don’t have to carry memory cards anymore. The headphones shipped w/ph do not have forms attached to the ear pieces so they just keep falling from my ears  Though the ph has EQ function, how can I even feel the bass boost w/the half falling ear pieces??

  18. Paul says:

I know i have a razor but i dont like that! So do you think i shud get a juke or sidekick!?!

  19. Chris says:

I like the basic idea of the swivel and thin long shape. But the overall design sucks. look at it from the side… it doesn’t even match up. the top is sticking out above the front of the phone…

something thin, like a pack of gum that swivels open to a usable phone size… and is just a phone, that’s what i’m waiting for.

  20. Matt says:

I have this phone and i think it is great. It is very small but you get used to it fairly quickly. The LG chocolates seem like boats after I have had this for a week. This IS a multi-task phone and will stop playing music to let you know you have received a txt message or a call then will continue as soon as you open the text or disconnect the call. This is a great phone and a good choice.

  21. brickhouse says:

lol at Phonecritic, i think you need to get laid bud. Then, if and when that happens, you need to go take an english class and learn how to write a legible sentence

  22. casey says:

this phone looks like Samsung F210 or it IS F210!!??

  23. David says:

Who da fuck cares its jus a cool lookin phone some ppl really have no life dey talk sht about a phone damn i think its pretty kool but easy 2 lose

  24. Tim says:

This phone is really cool as long as you don’t mind it lacking 3G and VCast. I’m not one of those people who uses my cell phone to surf the net and download songs from VCast for 2 bucks a pop so it works for me. If you are into VCast, texting, and using our phone as a 3G POS for your laptop, this phone is not for you. But if you only use your cell phone for basic calling and you want a decent MP3 player, this is a good choice.

PS. Whats up with the filthy language on this blog? Some people are very harsh on this cell phone.

  25. Brittney says:

I have this phone and haven’t had any problems so far. It’s a little hard to text on but overall i love it. The sound quality of the music player and the earpiece during conversations is great. It doesn’t have video which confused me since just about all of the new phones do– but the pros outweigh the cons

  26. Kaylan Anderson says:

I am getting this phone for my birthday. I think it looks like a cool design and it looks easy to control.

  27. FUNKAY MUNKAY says:

This phone is really good. if u dont think so u shouldn’t be talking. I have this phone and its amazing. its good for people who only need it for calling people and listening to music. the texting is a little hard but u get used to it. BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!     :???:

  28. JohnK says:

I had the Sony swivel phone and the hinge wears out WAY too fast… I would say do NOT buy any phone that swivels… just too fragile.

    John

  29. baby b says:

 I heart it i got it a week ago it rocks

  30. This phone is a waste of money… It’s NOT 3G, which seems to have slipped all iPhone users.. it’s a basic phone, no frills… I’ve talked with a number of Verizon reps and tech people (the techies are subcontracted btw) – it’s a pos cellie – don’t waste your time or money

  31. Boofy says:

This phone works great as a dildo. I shoved it all up in my fuckin’ pussy then I told all my friends to call me so it vibrated. Then I hit answer so they could talk to my fucking moose hoof, my shaggy DA, my messy cleft palate, my fuzzy mimosa, my feminine flapjacks, my roast beef hole, my spiraling girl portal, my fuckin’ fish hatch. Yum!

  32. the sav says:

wow. some of you are just nuts. a phone is a phone and this phone happens to look pretty cool. if you dont like it then dont buy it and shut your trap. damn.

  33. bennyito says:

Dude this phone rocks I’m so sick of whinny people talking crap about things they know nothing about. This phone is purfect to get for someone on your contract that you don’t want to run up your bill with Vcast and ringtone downloads. I had the palm treo 755p this phone doesn’t compare to that one but that lilke comparing apples to oranges, i was paying like $200 phone bills with sprint and my father inlaw was like i’ll get you a phone through verizon the MP3 player rocks on this phone and i don’t have to worry about racking up his bill at all and i can change the music daily on it 700 mb=216 songs and you guys are bitching

  34. justin r. says:

i’m buying the phone for only a 100 bucks. the only thing i’m going to hate is there is no mobile web 2.0 which i use all the time but i have a LG chocolate which i hate. and who cares if its hard to text. its hard on the LG chocolate but i got used to it and was very fast so whats the difference?

  35. D says:

 I bought the phone and I really like it. Yes it is small even to text on but I manage to do it just fine. I bought a blue tooth (just as small as the phone) and it works awesome especially if you use the voice activation; you push a button on the blue tooth and a lady asks who you want to call.

  36. kieran says:

  37. kieran says:

  38. kieran says:

  39. Pete says:

Hey to all of you guys that have this phone already, can you make real song ring tones on the juke or can it only play polyphonic ring tones?

  40. vamsi m. says:

 this phone is great but kinda annoying if u needa call fast the numbers arent seperated enough but i like the onboard memory idea, i hate havin to buy micro seperately costs more than just a freakin phone

  41. Allyson says:

How much does this phone currently cost?

  42. Alex says:

 its pretty good ive had it now for like 2 days. if your into media get it. I was supposed to pay 169.99 at the verizon superstore on route 59 new york, but with rebates and stuff i only payed 70 bucks. the swivel feature is very cool and convienient because you can acces almost everything from the outside. such as reading texts playing music answering calls etc. it comes with a headset that you can access everything from via voice command. it holds about 500 songs, all being played through a pretty good quality speaker and pretty loud too. the only negatives i have are the screen size(but great resolution), the stock media(backrounds, ringtones,) and the size. the size goes both ways b/c its convienent but easy to lose. get this phone and a clip if you have media on your pc to sync onto it. its definitly worth it.

  43. Alex says:

oh and pete you can download real ringtones on the porvided free v cast thingy. plus you can also use a website like mobile17.com to get free clips of songs sent to your phone from your saved songs on your pc to be converted into ringtones. jeez im only fucking 17 and i should be a verizon spokesman. they owe me some discount or something lol

  44. Alex says:

another bad thing is no mobile web. if you have the money get the voyager cuz that thing is crazy but this is the best you can get for a cheaper phone

  45. Pete says:

Hey thanks Alex, thats all I needed to know! I’m going to go buy buy the phone tomorrow!!

  46. kieran says:

can the samsung juke go on telus

  47. kieran says:

    does the juke have internet

  48. nicole says:

heyy this is nicole  i want to know how much money the juke is
