What’s taking T-Mobile’s 3G rollout so long – slow, bumbling government, that’s what

T-Mobile logo slowly rolling out 3G on 1700Mhz due to governmentLeave it to governmental agencies and bureaucratic sludge to gunk-up the 3G-rollout process for T-Mobile (NYSE: DT). As you’ll recall, T-Mobile spent a good chunk of change ($4.2 billion) to acquire 120 spectrum licenses for the 1700Mhz frequency spectrum – with the intention of using the spectrum to launch their 3G network. So what’s taking them so long to actually launch the network? Well, T-Mo’s gotta wait on law enforcement and homeland security to vacate the spectrum before the T-Mobile 3G network can get rolling.

The auction stated that the government agencies have up to 6 years to relocate and move off the 1700Mhz band – which doesn’t bode well for T-Mobile’s 3G network-launch. The company even offered $50 million to help the bumbling government bureau-tards make the move, let’s hope it helps.

There’s nothing like a bit of idiocracy to throw a wrench in T-Mobile’s plan to bring cheap 3G service to the masses. We’ve come to expect nothing less.
