Verizon Wireless to launch Juke, Pearl, Venus, Voyager simultaneously

By Will Park on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 at 4:50 PM PST In Announcements, Devices, LG, RIM (Research in Motion), Samsung, Verizon

So it looks like Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless is really trying to heat things up. They must still be feeling rather bitter about not jumping on the iPhone bandwagon when they had their chance. With the iPhone still selling like Twinkies at a Fat Camp, and AT&T (NYSE: T) slated to launch some other cool devices, we can imagine that Verizon is scrambling to keep up.

Verizon Wireless lineup with Samsung Juke, BlackBerry Pearl, LG VX8800 Venus, LG VX10000 Voyager

In order from left to right, Verizon Wireless will be launching the Samsung Juke, BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Pearl, LG VX8800 Venus and LG VX10000 Voyager all at the same time, in a couple of weeks. The Samsung Juke is the Samsung U470 swiveling musicphone that we showed you earlier. We’re expecting 2GB of storage and a 1.3 megapixel camera. The new BlackBerry Pearl will be sporting a 2 megapixel camera, A2DP Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack. LG will be throwing down with the LG VX8800 Venus and LG VX10000 Voyager. The LG Venus is a dual-screen slider with haptic feedback (vibrating touchscreen), 2 megapixel camera, and A2DP Bluetooth. Bigger brother LG Voyager comes packing the big guns - like a huge external touchscreen and internal display with a vertical clamshell setup that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard. As the successor to Verizon’s LG VX9900, the LG Voyager will sport a full-HTML browser and stereo speakers.

For Verizon Wireless’s sake, we hope their new lineup does well. If the success of the LG VX9900 with the younger demographic holds up for the LG VX10000 Voyager, Verizon will have at least one hit on their hands. Not to mention the Motorola Z6tv that’s slated to launch around the same time. Although, we’d rather sign a new contract and give AT&T our money for the AT&T Tilt.

im mad…my cell phone bill came up so high that im thinking bout cancelling my plan with verizon but now that i see these phones im changing my mind….

  2. IMHO Verizon has the best SERVICE… hands down. Their cell phones haven’t been the most cutting edge but I think they are about to reach a whole new level. If Apple didn’t have the marketability and brand value it does… I think the Voyager would blow it out of the water. But instead… expect sales to be pretty even this holiday season - I doubt people will switch service to Verizon just for the phone.

Good thing I already have Verizon! I signed up at Verizon Voyager Review to be instantly notified when it goes on sale. Hopefully I’ll be one of the first to have one!

  6. LBsure says:

who cares about Apple(I-phone)????? how can you take 2 crappy phone companies and combine them into 1 super-crappy company????? And they release the I-phone(which co$ts about $600) like buying it will make a difference. i’d rather buy a ps3, at least then it would be money well spent.

Get this…if you are an existing customer and eligible for New Every Two, you still don’t get your phone cheaper than the new customer just walking in the door. The Pearl is preordering for $299 (2 yr contract), minus a $100 “online discount” (new customers). But if you log into your account (existing customers) and you try to preorder (upgrade in this case) it’s $299 minus your “new every two” discount of $100. SAME PRICE FOR DIFFERENT “CLASS” OF CUSTOMER as the sales rep put it to me. Why would I waste my New Every Two now? The Juke is not priced that way…they give a 2 yr contract price, a $50 online discount, THEN the $100 New Every Two, so it ends up being FREE! I wonder how they are going to price Venus and Voyager. I’m a bit peeved about this…

 as for lisa, you should order or upgrade your verizon phone, with the new every two, through the internet (my account). I know when you try to speak to customer service personally over the phone, they don’t offer an additional $50 discount where as if you were to order it online. when i ordered my venus.
