Novatel USB727 EV-DO Rev. A modem

In case you’ve been looking for an EV-DO modem to hook-up with your laptop, this one might be for you. Two CDMA carriers, Sprint (NYSE: S) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ), are adding Novatel’s USB727 modem to their offering, thus enabling customers to access their data services while on the go. The Novatel USB727 supersedes the earlier USB720 model and is little shorter and narrower than its older brother. In addition, this EV-DO Rev. A USB modem comes with a twist in form of the microSD slot. What this means is that you will be able to spice it up with up to 4GB memory card and use it both as a modem and as a USB flash drive. Kinda strange, yet somehow I find it useful to carry a single USB add-on rather than two separate ones.

If you’re on Verizon, grab the USB720 right away for $100 after rebate on a two-year contract, while Sprint users will have to wait for few more weeks and get it for $80 with a contract.
