Could Apple indeed be working on an iPhone Extreme? Well, Tom over at iPhoneBugList spotted a reference to an “iPhone Extreme” in Apple’s iPhone feedback form. All we know at this point is that there’s some hidden code that hints at a product that goes by the name, “iPhone Extreme.”

iPhone Extreme code pops up on Apple website

Could this be a reference to the next-gen iPhone with 3G and GPS in tow (iPhone v2.0)? We know Apple’s naming-scheme already makes use of the “Extreme” moniker to indicate a higher-end product, so a higher-end iPhone successor is a good fit for the “Extreme” title. And, how far away is such a rumored device? Why would Apple start referencing such a device if it didn’t expect to launch the product in the near-term? Could this just be a typo? Suffice it to say that we have more questions than answers – and that the possibility of an Apple iPhone Extreme is nothing more than a whisper of a rumor at this point.

We’ll keep an eye on how this develops. Stay tuned!
