800,000 HTC Touch handsets out the door in just 3 months

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) isn’t the only player that can send 1 million handsets out the door in a matter of months. It looks like HTC is following in the Apple iPhone’s footsteps – they’ve managed to ship 800,000 HTC Touch handsets in a mere 3 months!
We should mention that HTC’s achievement has to be tempered by the fact that Apple and HTC are competing in completely different markets. We’ll have to wait for the iPhone to launch overseas and the HTC Touch to hit US shores before we can get a clear picture of exactly how close these tww manufacturers are in shipment volumes.
And it looks like HTC isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, either. They’ve announced that they expect to ship 15 million smartphones in 2008 – that’s a 30% increase over 2007 shipment volumes.
Congrats to you, HTC! We’re not all that surprised to see that you’ve been doing so well, but it’s nice to put a nice, round number to your success. Keep on keepin’ on in Taiwan!
