EU citizens benefiting from Eurotariff roaming charge price cap

The European Commission is touting their achievements with this announcement that the price cap on EU roaming charges has been a boon for Eu residents. If you’re in the European Union and you like to travel, you probably already know how good the recently passed “Eurotariff” has been. But, just to be clear, the European Commission says that the Eurotariff (the EU roaming charge price cap) which passed this past June 30 and has since slashed wireless calling bills by up to 60%.
The Eurotariff limits roaming charges to 0.49 Euros (69 cents) per minute for making a call abroad, and 0.29 Euros (34 cents) to receive a wireless call from abroad. The European Commission said that “By Aug. 30, around 200 million EU consumers had already switched to the Eurotariff.” And about 400 million EU consumers were enjoying the new rates by the end of September.

What is “Eurotariff”?
The new EU Regulation sets limits on international roaming rates. These limits, or “Eurotariffs”, will be gradually reduced over the three years following the Regulation’s entry into force.
The prices of the Eurotariff cannot exceed 49 cents for making calls and 24 cents for receiving calls for the next year (excluding VAT).

The new EU legislation on the Eurotariff is still very high as the maximum charges they have suggested for mobile roaming is almost 80% more expensive from using a mobile roaming sim.
