NTT DoCoMo 3G FOMA subscribers exceed 40 million!

By Dusan Belic on Thursday, October 4th, 2007 at 2:50 AM PST In Announcements, DoCoMo

While 40 million 3G users would certainly seem impressive for any other country, we’re just not that excited when it comes to Japan. The obvious reason is that they are THE most advanced mobile phone market on the planet.

NTT DoCoMoAnyway, NTT DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) — the largest mobile operator in the country and the largest 3G carrier in the world — along with its eight regional subsidiaries announced that subscribers to their 3G FOMA service surpassed 40 million as of September 29, 2007. Less than a year earlier, DoCoMo reported that more than 30 million people are using their 3G network.

Congratulations DoCoMo! Now it’s about time to enter the Western markets with your cool handsets and obviously solid strategy, and show dudes and dudettes here how to run the business. Yeah, we may not be as advanced as users in Japan, but we’re fast learners. Aren’t we?
